Explain whether your concern is position or volume
The lip lift page describes shortening the distance between the base of the nose and the upper lip. The dermal filler page describes adding volume beneath the skin, including treatment of the lips. These are different changes, even if both can affect how the lips look.
Describe what you notice at rest and when you smile. Ask the surgeon to assess upper-lip length, visible lip, tooth show, symmetry and overall proportions before discussing a treatment.
Compare the practical tradeoffs
A lip lift is surgery, with an incision and a healing period. Filler treatment has its own product choices, risks and follow-up needs. Ask for those details in relation to your anatomy rather than comparing the two only by how quickly the appointment can be completed.
- What change is expected in lip position or volume?
- Where would a surgical scar be, and how is it reviewed?
- Would previous lip filler affect the assessment or timing?
- What maintenance or further treatment may be needed?
Make the proposed result specific
Ask what the procedure is unlikely to change and whether other concerns would remain. When viewing examples, check whether a patient had filler, a lip lift or another procedure at the same time. This keeps the consultation focused on the treatment actually being proposed.
