About Breast Lift

Mastopexy reshapes and raises the breasts and addresses nipple position.

Reshaping and repositioning the breasts

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is described by the practice as surgery to reshape breast tissue and adjust breast and nipple position. The official page discusses crescent, periareolar, vertical and anchor incision patterns. Their extent differs, so the name breast lift alone does not explain the planned scars or amount of reshaping.

Volume and lift are separate decisions

The page distinguishes a change in position from increasing size. A consultation may discuss a lift alone, a lift with augmentation or another combination according to the concern. Ask how much fullness can be achieved with existing tissue and what an implant or fat transfer would add. If comparing photographs, check which combination the example patient received.

Questions for your consultation

  • Which incision pattern would be used for my degree of drooping?
  • How would nipple position and existing asymmetry be addressed?
  • What would a lift alone change about fullness and shape?
  • Would adding an implant create a different follow-up commitment?
  • How should I plan lifting restrictions, support garments and help at home?
